The Uijeongbu District Court announced on September 28 that they have sentenced a man identified as 'A' to two years in prison, completion of a 40-hour long lecture on sexual assault prevention, and to publicly list his personal information on an offenders' list for three years for blackmailing and raping a minor (in Korea a minor is considered someone under the age of 19).
According to investigation reports, 'A' met 'B,' who was 18-years-old at the time, through an internet chatting application in early 2015. At the time, 'B' had tricked 'A' by telling her that he was "someone who works for the police." 'A' threatened 'B' into having sex with him and made her pregnant, leaving 'B' with no choice but to get an abortion.
Even after the abortion, 'A' continued to demand sex from 'B,' blackmailing her with videos he secretly recorded of them having sex. When 'B' refused, 'A' reportedly told her, "I want anal sex with you while you're wearing your school uniform and stockings."

'B' was finally able to put an end to the sexual assault by dispatching police to the point of rendezvous that she and 'A' were supposed to meet up at. Following 'A's arrest and investigations, police discovered clips of 39 women, including 'B,' on 'A's laptop.
During the first trial, the courts had ruled, "Though the degree of crime is serious, we considered the fact that ['B'] voluntarily had sex with ['A'] through the use of an internet chatting application and sentenced [the defendant] to a probationary period." However, this ruling was reversed in the second trial, as the courts reasoned, "We cannot accept the ruling that 'B voluntarily had sex [with 'A']."
