According to testimony from family members, the woman, identified as 77-year-old Jin, underwent joint replacement surgery at a hospital in Busanjin District back on September 23. The family members were not concerned about the procedure as it is already well-known and commonplace; however, they were shocked to find out three hours later from the doctor in charge of the surgery that Jin was transferred to the intensive care unit.
As it turned out, the hospital had mistakenly transfused type B blood into the woman when she was in fact, blood type A. The blood in your body contains an autoimmune reaction but when the wrong blood type is injected, the two blood types cause an adverse reaction and can have serious consequences on the body's metabolism.

Jin's son said, "We heard that our mother, who walked into the hospital perfectly fine on her two feet, suddenly lost her consciousness and was moved to the ICU. They poured an entire pack of the wrong blood type into her body."
Thankfully, the woman regained her consciousness two days later on September 25, but her body's vital organs are still not functioning fully, requiring hemodialysis to mechanically remove her bodily fluids.
In response to this mistake, the hospital director only stated, "There is nothing we can say at this moment."
Meanwhile, the woman's family are looking into ways for the hospital to take responsibility for placing her life in danger.
