A Chinese man who was captured as a suspect for the murder of a woman tried to argue that he was being controlled by a chip.
On September 23, Jeju Seobu Police Station revealed that 60-year-old Chen, who is suspected of murdering a woman in her 60's at a Catholic church on Jeju Island, testified, "Someone inserted a chip in my head and controlled me," when accused of committing the murder.
At the time he was first arrested, Chen had stated, "My animosity towards women was largely because my two ex-wives betrayed me. When I saw a woman praying, I committed the crime in impulse."
Reportedly, Chen only testified that there is a chip in his brain after news of the woman's passing.

Police judge that Chen's irrational testimony is an attempt to reduce his sentence, and are focusing on interrogating the people around Chen. Further, upon discovering that Chen purchased a kitchen knife at a convenience store two days before the crime and visited the church twice a day before the murder, police deem the crime premeditated.
Meanwhile, Chen's brother was reported to have stated, "[My brother] has never received psychological treatment nor taken any medications [for his mental health]," and a profiler revealed that Chen does "show signs of megalomania" but no signs of schizophrenia.
