A Chinese man who was captured as a suspect for the murder of a woman tried to argue that he was being controlled by a chip.�
On September 23, Jeju Seobu Police Station revealed that 60-year-old Chen, who is suspected of murdering a woman in her 60's at a Catholic church on Jeju Island, testified, "Someone inserted a chip in my head and controlled me," when accused of committing the murder.�
At the time he was first arrested, Chen had stated, "My animosity towards women was largely because my two ex-wives betrayed me. When I saw a woman praying, I committed the crime in impulse."�
Reportedly, Chen only testified that there is a chip in his brain after news of the woman's passing.�

Police judge that Chen's irrational testimony is an attempt to reduce his sentence, and are focusing on interrogating the people around Chen. Further, upon discovering that Chen purchased a kitchen knife at a convenience store two days before the crime and visited the church twice a day before the murder, police deem the crime premeditated.�
Meanwhile, Chen's brother was reported to have stated, "[My brother] has never received psychological treatment nor taken any medications [for his mental health]," and a profiler revealed that Chen does "show signs of megalomania" but no signs of schizophrenia.�
