A 29-year-old former idol rapper identified by his surname Choi was reported to have been sentenced to prison for charges of smuggling marijuana.
The Seoul District Court revealed on June 16 that it has sentenced Choi to two years and six months in prison, a suspended sentence of three years, 160 hours of community service and probation, and 80 hours of drug therapy courses.
The court stated, "Choi carefully premeditated his criminal act through the use of an application which hid his bitcoin transaction history, and the amount of marijuana he smuggled is not a small amount. However, we took into consideration the fact that the marijuana confiscated was entirely seized and was not distributed in the market and that [Choi] conceded to and is deeply reflecting on his crime."
