William Yu is a 25-year-old digital strategist with Photoshop skills. He took it upon himself to put John Cho's face on numerous Hollywood posters to protest the whitewashing in Hollywood. Yes, I get that Cho's edited faces plastered on movie posters are meant to protest an industry that is grievously lacking an Asian presence. It certainly is a lighthearted, humorous jab at a deep-seated, complicated issue...but something tells me it's going to take more than a bunch of photoshopped pictures and a fleeting trend (#STARRINGJOHNCHO) on social media to uproot and change the whole system.
Still, the pictures are pretty hilarious and hopefully it will bring more awareness to the issue. Somebody's got some awesome photoshop skills and you can visit the website here!
