'Lucky Romance' seems to be off to a good start in ratings, but ironically, viewer response to the first episode is quite negative. Netizens claimed that Hwang Jung Eum's character is nothing new, but rather all too similar to her former roles in other dramas such as 'She Was Pretty', and 'Kill Me Heal Me'.
In addition, the plot evidently sports an "obvious story line", and the actors have also been targeted for lacking chemistry. Comments stated, "Um.. Maybe my expectations were too high..", "Not good at all. The characters just don't go along well with one another", "Tired of seeing Hwang Jung Eum's same old character. There is no impact", etc.
On the contrary some viewers said, "It is a lot different than the original webtoon, but it's only the first episode. It wasn't that terrible. I think it will get better", "Let's give it some time", "It's fun. Not too bad", and more.
