At the April 15th press conference for the tvN show, Kang Ho Dong stated that the biggest difference between the first and second seasons is the absence of Lee Seung Gi, who is currently serving in the military. Kang Ho Dong explained, "The biggest different is the absence of Lee Seung Gi, who was known for smarts in the group. Though Ahn Jae Hyun is familiar and joyful like an old friend, he's a completely different character than Lee Seung Gi."

Eun Ji Won also joked, "It's disappointing that Lee Seung Gi isn't here, but the same level is still there. Ahn Jae Hyun is very two-faced and evil." Kang Ho Dong had more to say about the actor's character, revealing, "Ahn Jae Hyun doesn't have much general knowledge to the point I wonder how he survives in the world. However, there are times that I'm scared of how good he is with his body and how he comes up with ideas."

Lee Soo Geun further mentioned that with Lee Seung Gi gone, they all have a more equal chance at winning the quizzes.

'New Journey to the West 2' premieres on April 19!
