Even before its official airing, 'Show Me the Money 5 ('SMTM 5')' is under media and public scrutiny for its alleged unfair method of judging the aspiring rappers during the preliminary rounds.
Ovan wrote on his Facebook on Wednesday, "For the last time, this is not an excuse or a justification and I'll stop after taking care the remaining matters. On Saturday I was failed by Mad Clown but the following day around 10 a.m., I was contacted by the production crew who suggested for me to try out again and on Sunday, I was passed by Zion.T. I know I violated the rules but even so, I really just wanted to move forward. I'm sorry. I'm telling you this because I decided to quit."

'SMTM 5's production crew addressed this issue with, "In the case of Ovan, it is the fault of production. However, it wasn't the production that suggested for Ovan to try out again but Ovan himself who requested to try out again, so he was reviewed a second time. Later, production eliminated Ovan after learning that he tried out twice. The mistake occurred due to the sheer number of contestants. We will once again check if any contestants used this unfair method and eliminate them."
A 'SMTM 5' rep also cautiously added, "According to the rules, It's not possible [for contestants] to be judged multiple times. The production crew confirmed that there were no duplicate reviews [of the same contestant] but a mistake could have occurred. If there happens to be additional cases involving the passes, then we'll meticulously peruse the preliminary recordings and consult with the producer in order to limit the number of controversies."
