An underage sex offender who had evaded arrest for seven months was captured in a mere two days after police posted him as 'most wanted' on social media.
Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's sexual assault investigation team revealed on February 1 that they have arrested and are currently investigating 20-year-old Hong.
According to police, Hong had approached two underage girls that were playing at a playground in Changwon City last June 14. Hong is suspected of tricking the two girls by telling them he will play with them, placing them on his lap and then touching them. At the time of the incident, the police had distributed wanted fliers of the suspect using capture from CCTV footage; however, authorities encountered some difficulty in actually catching the criminal.

When the case made no progress for seven months, police took a different approach and tried uploading a CCTV capture of Hong on social media along with a description of his offenses this past January 26. The post went viral in an instant, and in just two days on January 28, a person who claimed to be Hong's acquaintance called in with a tip.
When Authorities used this tip to apprehend Hong, they received a call from his family, and not too long after, Hong turned himself in. At first, Hong was said to have denied all accusations; however, as the investigation dragged on, he finally admitted to all the charges.
