Hyosung had shown up on the program's set with delicious fried chicken in hand, which was gifted to her by a fan. The fan braved the wintry chill and snow to come to the set and hand Hyosung the chicken himself in the hopes that she won't be entering the training facility on an empty stomach.
Unfortunately, this kind gesture landed the unwitting idol in some trouble that soon burgeoned into a controversy.
The tide of criticism against her forced the idol to write on her Instagram, "I write this with a disappointed heart. The chicken was given to me with the purest of intentions from a fan who was worried that I'd be entering [the facility] on an empty stomach, and because of the snow, I arrived just 10 minutes before I had to enter the training center," explaining that she had no time to eat the chicken and just carried it in.
Hyosung continued, "That's just what happened and it's wasn't scripted, it wasn't an ad [for the chicken], and I'm not an anti-fan. I was so thankful and it gave me a lot of strength on such a cold day. Please refrain from any negative comments and I hope you'll enjoy the broadcast."
Hyosung had been chastised by the drill sergeant for bringing the chicken in and was punished.
Due to this minor incident, Hyosung was criticized by viewers who accused her of trying to cause a scene, advertise the chicken brand, and of being an anti-fan of the show.
