Kids do some idiotic things sometimes--it all comes with the naivete of youth, but the line should be drawn when others are put in danger. Apparently, several middles school students shot BB guns at a show for 'Bachelor's Vegetable Store,' a musical that is based on a novel and drama of the same name.
According to the company in charge of production, during 'Bachelor's Vegetable Store's show that took place at KEPCO's Art Center on the morning of December 7, BB gun shots were fired at the stage. This specific performance was specially planned for students, and in the audience seats, there were around 1,000 students from two middle schools.
The theater employees and representatives immediately stepped forward to locate the source of the fired shots, but the shots halted and the show went on. However, 15 minutes before the musical concluded, more shots were fired directly at a member of the production crew who was on the second floor. This second round of shots prompted the production team to skip the curtain call and draw the show to an early close.
The production crew held off the exit of the students, and together with the teachers, they proceeded to examine the student's personal belongings. After their examination, four students were caught as the culprits who fired the shots, and a total of four BB guns were confiscated. The production crew confronted the four students responsible and their teachers, requesting an apology, which they obliged.
The production company shared this incident on its Facebook through a notice that went, "Actions that endanger the safety of the students and the actors should be rightfully punished. We won't overlook this incident and after holding the students and the schools responsible, we will devise a proper course of action. From now on, so that this kind of incident won't happen again, we plan to send a notice with specific guidelines for the schools to adhere to."
A rep from the production crew relayed, "The first shots were fired by a student who was seated on the first floor and a student seated on the second floor fired another round. The first student had fired the shots for fun while the second student shot his BB gun at an employee after the employee prevented him from leaving his seat when he tried to dispose of his BB gun at the bathroom," and added, "It's true that the actors were shocked but it wasn't a situation where the audience members were greatly disturbed or their safety was gravely threatened. The incident occurred due to the negligence of the students, and we have received an apology and saw a proper end to it; we hope that this occurrence won't be blown out of proportion or be distorted."
