36-year-old Korean-American Edward Lee, who was indicted with murdering college student Cho Joong-Pil back in 1998, testified on November 4 at Seoul Central District Court that he witnessed Arthur Patterson stab Cho to death.
Patterson declared that Lee was the killer, denying that he's the one who stabbed the college student at a Burger King in Itaewon District. The lower courts had sentenced Lee to imprisonment back in 1998 after being found guilty of murder. However, the charges were later dismissed by the Supreme Court who cited a lack of evidence.
On the witness stand, Lee said, "[Patterson] suddenly started stabbing Mr. Cho. I was so shocked, I turned around. I remember Mr. Cho trying to hit Arthur with his right hand, I believe. Then I saw Arthur keep on stabbing Mr. Cho," as quoted by The Korea Observer via Yonhap.

Also according to The Korea Observer, Lee also claimed that he was mistreated throughout the investigation process, claiming the police department had interrogated him for 17 straight hours without allowing him to sleep. Lee stated that he didn't fully understand the questions asked to him by the police. He also claimed that the police threatened him and wouldn't let him leave until after he had to sign and thumbprint his statements.
Meanwhile, Patterson was indicted of murdering Cho back in 2011 and was extradited to Seoul in September.
