The Ministry announced on September 5, "We will take the necessary measures to make certain that Sergeant Ha, who devoted himself for his country, doesn't have to pay the additional fees from receiving treatment at a private medical facility. Even if medical expenses for Sergeant Ha's intensive care for other areas of his body exceed the maximum compensation period of 30 days, we plan to shoulder the full amount of his treatment expenses."
Additionally, the Ministry stated that they are working with the Legislative Office to revise the current laws under the Veterans' Pension Act, which forces ROK soldiers to take full responsibility for their hospital bills.
This is good news for not just Sergeant Ha, but also for all ROK soldiers who put their lives on the line to serve and protect their country.
