In an interview with My Daily, Basick revealed that though 'SMTM 4' may have made it look like he and Mino were enemies, they actually became very close and acknowledged each other's talent.
The rapper explained, "Before 'SMTM 4,' I only knew him as WINNER's Song Min Ho. I saw him through 'WINNER TV,' among other videos. [At the time] he was just an entertainer to me. But after the recordings, we slowly became more close and, watching his stage, I realized, 'Ah, he is a good rapper.' As time passed, I came to know that he is a good friend. Since he is an idol, he has good presence on stage and he is talented enough to have won the show."
Basick admitted that there are many talented idol rappers, among them MONSTA X's Jooheon, saying, "He's got talent but he was a bit lacking on stage. I think he is a skilled rapper who can be even better."
The rapper continued by confessing that his biggest rival on the show was Lil Boi, explaining, "When I heard that Lil Boi would be on 'SMTM 4,' I got really nervous. I knew that he is an incredibly talented rapper. I realized that even more as we filmed 'SMTM 4' together. After the diss mission, we were able to learn each other's thoughts a little better. Honestly, the diss battle is simply a mission by the show. It isn't something that people do because they really want to. I guess that was hard for Lil Boi. He told me he didn't understand why we had to do that kind of rap. So after the filming, we had a really long discussion. I thought that as one of the program's contestants, you have to stay true to the given missions. But for Lil Boi, he stands firm in his beliefs and is a bit stubborn, so I felt that those aspects of him are astounding."
