With tensions rising, North and South Korea exchanged fire over their border according to the South Korean Defense Ministry.
South Korea first detected a small rocket that was fired towards the western province of Gyeonggi. South Korea's military then responded by firing back at the area from which the rocket came from.
Just what prompted this sudden attack? The United States Pentagon is currently monitoring the situation closely and they believe that North Korea fired a shot towards a South Korean loudspeaker near the border. After a recent event of two South Korean soldiers being wounded by landmines which were suspected to be planted from the North, Seoul reacted by setting up enormous loudspeakers that would blare propaganda messages over the border. North Korea called this move, "A direct action of declaring war."
