According to a media source, Korea Chamber of Commerce (KCC) recently convened an ad hoc committee and unanimously decided to impose a fine on 'Show Me the Money 4' for violating a total of three broadcasting regulations including gender equality, broadcasting language, and maintaining dignity.
A monetary penalty is the topmost disciplinary action that the Korea Chamber of Commerce can impose on a broadcasting company; they have the capacity to fine companies to an upwards of 50,000,000 KRW (~$43,000 USD). The final sum is to be determined in a general meeting that is to be held soon.
The Korean Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists cited Mino's lyirics, which had went, "Mino targets all the daughters, spread (your legs) like you're at the gynecologist," and protested against 'Show Me the Money 4's production crew, claiming that the lyrical content severely damaged the reputation of gynecologists and doctors.
'SMTM 4's production team, Mino, and YG Entertainment delivered an official apology to the Korean Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in an attempt to assuage the medical community.
Subsequent this controversy, the society is said to have stated, "It is our wish that this sincere apology will be delivered to all of Korea's women who were affronted by this incident. [Women] should not avoid regular check-ups at the OBGYN or endure abnormalities in their menstrual cycles because of the judgement they may face, and take care to maintain their own bodily health."
They added, "We hope that this will be the last of the judgmental behaviors toward women who visit the clinic for their health and hope that this kind of behavior will be completely eradicated in Korea."
