A mother and her daughter came onto the show, because the mother was very worried about her middle school daughter who was obsessed with dieting.
Despite the fact that the middle schooler had lost 9 kg (almost 20 pounds) in three months, she still wanted to lose more weight and continue dieting. She apparently mentioned wanting to be anorexic, leaving Lee Kuk Ju to feel very uncomfortable and frustrated. The comedian suddenly stood up and exclaimed in a joking manner, "I'm sorry but I'm uncomfortable. I think I'll have to leave. As I kept hearing this I became very angry. How am I supposed to do this," and pretended to walk out.
Kim Gu Ra joined in and said, "Let's go together. I want to leave too."
Lee Kuk Ju, however, did not walk out of filming, and instead shared, "In grade 6, I was 61 kg (around 135 pounds). As I entered middle school, I consistently gained 10 kg (around 22 pounds) over time."
She also revealed that she was too lazy to move around to the point that she chose origami club at school, in attempts at picking the club that would require her to move the least.
She said, "Honestly speaking, I'm sure you don't want to become like me. Then as the opposite of me, you need to live," emphasizing the importance of getting your body moving. She went on to tell the young girl that she needs to eat healthy and try a moderate amount of exercise, not starve herself, earning applause from the audience.
As you know, Lee Kuk Ju is one of the heavier female comedians out there, but she has always embraced and loved her body. You can tell how confident she is in her body, as she's able to make fun of herself and speak candidly about weight. Hopefully the middle school girl will learn from Lee Kuk Ju through this, and realize she needs to eat properly and exercise, and most importantly, learn to love herself no matter what her size is!
