We're still waiting on JACE's new MV, but at least her digital single "Not Enough" featuring fellow 'Unpretty Rapstar' rapper Kisum has been released to the public!
It's a tight track with a strong beat, described as 'a diss track towards thoughtless women who use their looks to treat men as cash ATMs'. And true to the description, the chorus chants about how some materialistic women "have all these bags, have a closet full of clothes, has this great man, but it's not enough".
Other parts of the lyrics say, "Above your shiny shoes is your shiny [credit] card receipt / it's obvious, your higher nose bridge / dating to you is not a meeting but a business trade" as well as, "The bag and shoes you wear are all expensive / Your outside appearance is real but you are all fake inside"
She also referred to these girls as 'kimchi b*tches'.
Critical comments included, "I can't tell if your song is about pointing out thoughtless women or a self-diss," "She's just trying to receive interest with a provocative topic."
Some have even gone on to say that her track further propagates misogynistic views, and raised issues with the term 'kimchi b*tches'. Some say that term makes it sound as if she's directing this song towards all Korean women, rather than just one category of women, because kimchi is a well-known national dish of Korea.
In response to the criticisms, JACE said during an interview, "To call the track misogynistic is a distorted interpretation," and that "it's a track that is a self-reminder that I shouldn't be someone like that."
She also added, "I had fun working with Kisum on the details of the lyrics. I think this song carries the strongest message among all the songs I've done up until now. So I'm satisfied with it. I hope that you'll focus on the wit of the lyrics."
