The actor revealed through his agency today, "I plan to stand steadfast with courage." In a message to the public titled, "Announcement to everyone for my return to broadcast," Ryu Shi Won wrote, "It has been about five years since an issue arose in my married life. Most of all, I'm ashamed that I've troubled everyone with my personal issues for this long. I humbly accept that everything was due to my inadequacy, and whatever the reason may be, I'm deeply apologetic that I was unable to protect my family and show you a better side of me. Now, I want to put the past behind me and gather some courage to stand in front everyone again. I will try ever harder to show my improved self to make up for the time that was lost. Please look on with an understanding heart and watch me try my best."
Ryu Shi Won and Ms. Cho tied the knot in 2010 and filed for divorce in March 2012. Ms. Cho then filed a complaint to the police against her husband for threats and assault against her in 2013. Ryu Shi Won was penalized with a fine, but Ms. Cho was also later indicted as some of her words said in court became problematic as it was found that not everything had been truthful.
