It's the battle of the girl groups on the K-pop scene this summer, but in the music scene overall, indie band hyukoh has continuously been taking over music charts.
Their newest title track "Comes and Goes" from their album '22' has been steadily maintaining its spot near the top of the charts since last month. Impressive considering the top spots on Korean music charts often change daily these days.
hyukoh's album '22' came out at the end of May, and they debuted back in 2010, but their music really started to find their audience in the mainstream after their appearance on MBC's 'Infinity Challenge' this past June. In fact, as previously reported, they've come back to 'Infinity Challenge' to prepare for the show's 2015 music festival, pairing up with Jung Hyung Don.
Instead of going back down in popularity after the initial hype, the popularity of "Comes and Goes" is spreading, and many of their other songs are high up on the charts too. "Comes and Goes" is currently sitting comfortably at the #2 spot on almost all music charts only behind Leessang's newly released single "Kaleidoscope". The night before Leessang's release, they were actually at the top spot on Mnet.
With Mnet as an example, after their appearance on 'Infinity Challenge', their song "Comes and Goes" shot up 207 spots to 11. Their song went up another 9 spots to #2. Another song in their album, "Hooka", shot up 895 spots to #19 and then #7. Even their older song "Wi Ing Wi Ing" went up to #10.
