BTS MV REVIEW - "DOPE"

BTS has dropped the MV for one of their songs "Dope" (or "Sick," if you prefer) and the boys are dressed to kill (and dance). The song itself is actually from their April release 'HwaYangYeonHwa Pt. 1'

The thin plot apparently has to do with the boys abandoning their jobs one by one, and we get to see each of the Bangtan Boys dressed accordingly. There's a couple businessmen, there's a race car driver, there's a cop, doorman, etc.



The costumes work for the most part, except for J-Hope. He was the one dressed as a NASCAR driver, and his entrance is awkward, for lack of a better word. While it all looks intentional, at the same time it looks awkward and ill-fitted, and his dance moves have him practically stumbling. The rest of the boys kill it, and in the group dance sequences,�J-Hope slays.

It's got some nods to interesting background sets, but they aren't shown very much and are pretty much the same, drab building. The boys also end up on a stage with lights shining on them. There's also a fair amount of aegyo, too.



I have the distinct feeling this was one last hurrah before the summer begins. It's a good song, don't get me wrong, but the video definitely looks like it was shot on a budget. This is one of those cases where the video isn't nearly as good as the song.
