Imagine your curiosity at receiving a package from a relative and then your horror when you open it to find a dead baby inside...
On June 5, Chosun Ilbo reported on Jeonnam Naju Police Station's arrest of a mother, Ms. Lee (35), for packaging a dead infant and sending it out for delivery to a relative's home.
She was arrested on the charge of putting the corpse of her dead baby into a box at a post office in Gangdong, Seoul to send it to a relative's house in Godong-ri, Geumcheon-myeon, Naju. Upon discovery, the baby was seen to be wrapped up in black clothes and laid atop a towel. More alarmingly, the baby was revealed to have already been in a very advanced state of decomposition.
On top of that, inside the box along with the baby was a letter written by Ms. Lee that read, "Please take care of this properly so that this baby may rest in a comfortable place."
Ms. Lee's mother was shocked upon discovering the dead baby in the box upon receiving the package and reported this to the police. Within a day, Ms. Lee was arrested by the police, who plan to focus their investigation on whether Ms. Lee murdered her baby after birth.
