MONSTA X are some of the most promising rookies this year, but there was a time when their future was cloudy during their trainee days.

On the July 26 airing of MBC's 'Park Kyung Lim's 2 O'Clock Date' radio show, members Jooheon and Shownu talked about the tough times back in the day. DJ Park Kyung Lim asked, "Have you ever wanted to quit being a celebrity?"

Jooheon replied, "I have. During my trainee days, all I did every day was practice. During the times when I didn't know when I would debut, I didn't sleep much and just trained, and I wanted to quit."

Park Kyung Lim positively gave him encouragement by saying, "Effort never betrays you. Now all of that effort will show up there on stage."

Shownu shared, "Before my debut, my training period was 6 years. My growingly apathetic self was sorrowful. As I trained, if I did it I did it, and if I was stopped, I stopped. I became insensible."
