PRODUCER, EPISODES 9 & 10

Well, that escalated quickly:

Seung Chan meets Ye Jin at the theater, and they both head back to the house to find Cindy and Joon Mo. Cindy chickens out at the last minute, though she said she had something important to tell Seung Chan. The next day, at the office, an episode of Joon Mo's show is being cancelled. The station wants to air a pilot for a new variety show. Joon Mo's team is extremely nervous. Over the next few days, Ye Jin has run-ins with Seung Chan's mom (who insists that the PD park her car correctly), Seung Chan helps Ye Jin move into her own space, and Cindy publicly thanks Seung Chan during her performance on 'Music Bank.' The young PD tries to meet up with Ye Jin after work to declare his love, but finds her with Joon Mo, who tells her he doesn't want her to move out.

The next day, Cindy confronts her anti-fans at a meetup. Seung Chan buries himself in editing the preview for the show, trying to find the perfect 30 seconds.� As the week progresses, Cindy has it out with CEO Byun, her producer, telling the CEO in no uncertain terms that Cindy will do things her own way. Finally, at the end of the week, a celebration at Seung Chan's house finds Ye Jin alone in the young PD's room. Playing with the talking teddy, she hears the declaration of love that Seung Chan recorded for her. Later that evening, Seung Chan and Ye Jin are at the park discussing this. Seung Chan pulls her into a kiss...

Finally. I've been waiting for that! But now that it's happened, is it really the best thing? It's bound to make things awkward at work. I don't think Seung Chan's legendary naivete is going to pull him out of this one unscathed! I know Ye Jin was pretty floored to hear that he liked her, and I'm pretty sure they didn't end up in the park together in order for her to simply reassure him.


You put your right hand out, you put your right hand in, and you shake it all about...

At least we get insight into the reason�Joon Mo is gun-shy about taking responsibility. He managed another starlet and promised her he would take care of her, only to see her used up and thrown away by CEO Byun. So now, while Ye Jin and Seung Chan endeavor to take care of Cindy, Joon Mo bristles at the thought. He doesn't want to fail someone else, to be hurt again when he gets close. I have to thank the writers for that -- at least we have a reason for his cowardice.

It's nice to see Cindy pushing back. Instead of the spoiled starlet, we now see a fully realized woman, someone who resents the slave contract she signed and now is trying to exit gracefully. CEO Byun doesn't give up that easily, though, and has already told Cindy this. I'm actually hoping she finds her own way out. I do have to wonder what will happen at the end. Will she stay on her own terms, go on her own terms, or end up as a star who can write her own ticket? I wanna see the end result without seeing the end of the show.


Aish! She took my side of the bed!

I know I've groused about it being not funny, but now that's changed. I think what helps this show greatly is the characters. We've seen them at their most vulnerable (usually helped along by a generous amount of soju), and I think that really helps us care about them. We want to know if Seung Chan will either take action on or get over his crush on Ye Jin. We want to see if Joon Mo and Ye Jin will admit they like each other -- everyone else in the office sees it.

Now that I've written about it, I'm eager all over again. Can't wait for the weekend!
