There's no denying that survival programs are all the rage these days what with the immense popularity of YG Entertainment's 'MIX & MATCH,' DSP Media's 'KARA Project,' Starship Entertainment's 'NO.MERCY,' and now JYP Entertainment's 'SIXTEEN.' Not to be confused with outright competitive programs like 'Superstar K,' 'Unpretty Rapstar,' 'Show Me the Money,' and more, these survival programs pit trainees from the same agency against one another for the chance to debut--a chance they've been training practically all their life for.
Although this is the trend, meaning it's quite popular when it comes to viewership and whatnot, there have also been complaints about whether these shows were all good or simply cruel, so mssylee and alim17 got together to debate about the subject matter.

While mssylee argues that this is an advantageous opportunity for exposure and fans that ultimately helps more than harms and introduces much needed real-life experience outside of the training room, alim17 says that these programs are merciless, broadcasting not only the talents and success of the trainees but also the stress, pressure, tears, and failures with something so important to them at stake in not only the private but also the public eye.
