The incident shown in the clip above occurred back in October 2014 in a motel parking lot located in the city of Busan. Officer Kwon, shown in the clip wearing blue, was restraining a person for using narcotics when another drug user swung what appears to be a baseball bat at him. The attacker continues to swing at him incessantly before eventually retreating to his car to drive away. Another police officer can be seen at the 0:30 mark running towards that car, kicking in the door and then breaking the window in an attempt to stop him.
Netizens are in awe of the spectacle as the original CCTV clip has gained over 300,000 views ever since it was uploaded on March 22. The first drug user captured in the clip has been arrested and will be judged under the Narcotics Act. Although the bat-wielding assailant escaped the scene, he was arrested three months later.
Officer Kwon, who suffered broken fingers during the incident was asked in an interview if he wasn't scared during the attack. He states at the 1:10 mark in the clip below, "My job is like that; if it's not me, another staff member will have to do it, so I work hard."
Being the coward that I am, I'm pretty sure I would've bolted as soon as someone started charging at me with a bat. Props to the fellow officer who high-kicked that car like no other though.
