According to a study, the average Korean drinks coffee 12.2 times per week or 1.74 times a day. Meanwhile, kimchi is consumed 11.9 times per week, coming in second to coffee. Sugar and multigrain rice tie for third as they are both consumed 9.7 times per week.
According to reports, instant brew coffee is particularly getting popular lately and Korea is 30th in the world for coffee consumption according to the National Coffee Association of the United States. It is believed that the main caffeine-dealing culprit that got Korea addicted to this drink is Starbucks, which entered Korea in 1999 and popularized the coffee chain concept in the country.
