Previously, Hallyu actor Jang Geun Suk was reported to have evaded taxes, but this had been denied by his agency. However, according to Korean media outlet Kukmin Daily on January 14, Jang Geun Suk was reported to have paid an additional fine exceeding 10 billion KRW (~ 9 million USD). This particularly brought to attention the fact that he denied any involvement when his name got dragged into a tax evasion controversy before.
The Seoul Regional National Tax Service started a special investigation in June, 2014 for five to six months, ending sometime in November.

As an update, the media outlet on January 14 wrote, "It was confirmed on January 13 that Hallyu movie star Jang Geun Suk paid over 10 billion KRW (~ 9 million USD) in additional fines to the National Tax Service for tax evasion and additional tax."
The report indicated that the amount of tax he had omitted in itself had been close to 10 billion KRW (~ 9 million USD), so it could be assumed that the amount omitted from his income report were a couple million USD.
Meanwhile, neither the actor nor his agency has yet stepped up to confirm or deny this report.
[Update] Jang Geun Suk's rep has now stepped up on January 14 to deny the report, stating, "The report about his paying an additional fine of 10 billion KRW (~ 9 million USD) is not true. We underwent tax investigation as normal. We do not understand why this controversy came up again."
