Han Groo talks about her rushed debut as a singer + name change

Singer-turned-actress Han Groo talked about how she debuted as a singer and her actual name on KBS 2TV's 'Happy Together 3' on January 8.

She said, "I originally did not prepare to become a singer. Composer Joo Young Hoon said, 'You must become a singer,' and made me train. He came with the choreography and dance and made me practice, then immediately sent me out to a broadcast."

Han Groo added, "There are a lot of people who debut after receiving vocal training since they're young, but I never sang. Still, they made me train and debut. Honestly, the company only raises singers who can sing well, so they don't know how to do MR. That's why I also sang 100% live. Performing for one event, I went back and forth between life and death," making everyone laugh.

In addition, she revealed to everyone's surprise, "My actual name is Min Han Groo. When I debuted, the CEO was Joo Young Hoon. Min Han Groo was too long so the name Han Groo was decided on, but there were a lot of malicious comments like, 'Joo Young Hoon isn't that great anymore,' and 'Why did you choose Han Groo as her name?'"

The MCs also brought up that she was formerly known as "Apgujeong UEE" before her debut to which she said, "The practice room was in Apgujeong, so they called me Apgujeong UEE."
