On January 6, Fabien took to his Twitter to comment on Lotte's newest burger, the ramen burger. He wrote, "Why is Lotte selling the ramen burger that I made two months ago? Without permission, ha."
Along with the tweet, he provided a picture from MBC Everyone's '100 Choice' where he won a "Best Chef" trophy for his ramen burger submission. He won this honor back on the December 29 broadcast of the show, when he made the ramen burger as a Korean-American fusion dish. He dubbed it the "American noodle burger."
However, when a Twitter user responded to Fabien with, "Japan made it first," Fabien was quick to clarify, "I uploaded that as a joke though? Haha."
Other netizens commented, "Hehehe if we're honestly going to nitpick over the originator then isn't it the restaurant Ramen Burger?" and, "From now on whenever I write something, I should say that it's a joke like Fabien keke."
Fabien's agency then stepped up to explain Fabien's tweet, saying, "[Fabien] saw that a hamburger brand recently released a ramen burger so he uploaded [the tweet and pictures] as a joke, but it seems there has been a misunderstanding." They continued, "Fabien wasn't saying that he invented the ramen burger; we're asking that you don't misunderstand."
