On January 23, a netizen wrote in an online community post about his/her experience at a cafe located in the city of Andong.
According to the netizen, he/she entered the cafe around 12:45 AM, an hour before closing time. Feeling sorry for being at the cafe so late, the netizen asked an employee if it was okay to dine at the cafe and leave. The employee stated it was fine and the netizen ordered a coffee.
When the netizen received the order, he/she removed the lid off the coffee and saw that the employee wrote, "Stupid (Ba-Bo)," with syrup. The netizen called over the employee and politely asked, "What is this? Can I ask if you meant anything by this?"
At this, the employee responded, "I saw a lot of people joking around like that on Facebook so I tried it out too." The employee continued, "You looked like someone that was nice so I thought I could joke around with you like this."
Thinking that the employee was lying in order to avoid acknowledging his/her wrongdoing, the netizen demanded for a new drink as well as a refund. The netizen wrote in the post, "A joke involves two people joking around," and, "Is there such a thing where a person who works in service calls someone who they just met an idiot?"
The post became a hot topic as netizens found the situation to be hilarious and that the customer was overreacting. Top comments include: "It was late at night, customer complains, customer asks for refund; the internet applauds spoiled behavior," "What the heck. That must've been so embarrassing. It's not a big deal, [the netizen] should've just laughed it off," and, "It's not even a swear word like bastard or fucker. If it were me, I would've laughed at 'stupid.'"
