J.Y. Park revealed as a guest on the December 16 edition of SBS's 'Roommate' that he had not wanted Jackson in GOT7.  

He said, "My first impression of his audition honestly made me tilt my head.  It was not that great.  The reason was that he tried so hard [and it showed].

The most important thing is to be natural, but he tried so hard to the point it appeared unnatural.  When he was dancing, he did what I dislike the most, he would dance too fast [due to nerves].  He wasn't able to fix that well, so I was half in doubt.

However, the other [members] of the casting team said, 'He was like that because he was nervous.  He's not normally like that.  Give him a chance.'  Later, I found out that he was the natural type that was liked at JYP."

Park Joon Hyung said, "He and I are very similar.  My older sister asked how he could be so similar to me when I was in my 20's."

J.Y. Park responded, "That's right.  You two are similar.  You are also similar in that the both of you are very affectionate."
