On November 28, actress Lee Mido caught the internet's attention with the above video as well as a scary story related to it. According to Lee Mido, her apartment had recently been broken into using the method shown in the video.
In a Facebook post, Lee Mido states, "This is an issue that has come up for me. Please share this a lot." She then relays the following message:
"Today at 9PM, I was coming home (villa, 2nd floor) after work when I saw an ahjusshi whom I'd never seen before walk down the stairs. Strangely, right before the ahjusshi came downstairs, he closed a door which made a number key sound that I thought sounded similar to the one in my house. I thought this was strange, and when I went upstairs I found a plastic stick set in front of my door and my milk slot door (for milk bottle deliveries) opened. And when I immediately went outside, a black van that I had failed to notice and had never seen before disappeared. When I had blindly entered the villa, there were two men who got out of the van and fixed their eyes on me. I want to say that they were probably both in a street gang. Although I reported [the incident] to the police, because there was no damage and there was only a stick set [in front of my door] and an open milk slot door, they said they could not report it; they said that they would watch over the area and left. After the police left, my younger sibling and I experimented to see if one could really open the door with the stick. To my horror, we were successful in opening the door after several attempts with the end of the stick. The fact that this kind of incident happened is so scary, and that this kind of incident can repeat terrifies me. I plan on blocking my milk slot and getting more locks tomorrow; in order to prevent a similar incident for various people, please share this [post] a lot."
The scary event has received an overwhelming amount of attention, with the original Facebook post receiving over 200,000 likes and 15,000 shares. Netizen comments are mostly horror-stricken, as they tag their fellow friends telling them to be careful and comment that they found the incident to be scary.
