According to rumors, SimSimi held a quiz event at a hospital in order to liven up the usually dull atmosphere for the patients and staff. On November 3, a post titled, "SimSimi's event question is goosebump-inducing," was published on online community 'Today's Humor', suggesting that the event was disturbing more than it was uplifting.
The post contains a screenshot of one of SimSimi's quiz questions, which reads, "Which president killed himself?" before listing the former presidents Roh Moo Hyun, Park Chung Hee, and Rhee Syngman as options. The question refers to former President Roh Moo Hyun's suicide, which the notorious website Ilbe is known to mock.
The poster states, "At first there were general, common sense questions but then suddenly this kind of questions started to appear." He continues, "I may be reacting hyper sensitively, but what in the world is going on in the heads of those who thought up of this question…." He adds, "The fact that they made this question for fun is goosebump-inducing."
Although SimSimi is known to have said inappropriate things in the past, as it is an A.I. that learns from its users, this quiz event's questions were reportedly written by the company only. Netizens have been criticizing the company for asking such a question as well as accusing it of being affiliated with Ilbe, saying, "At least the SimSimi's manager [must be] an Ilbe bug keke," "An Ilbe has appeared in SimSimi," and "The people who say they don't know what's wrong [with this question] are even more goosebump-inducing."
