Kyuhyun held his debut showcase at YES24 MUV HALL in Mapogu, Seoul on the 13th at 11 AM KST with approximately 200 fans. He performed his title track "At Gwanghwamun", which has already swept music charts, and other songs from his solo debut mini album of the same title.
Kyuhyun opened up the showcase, which was hosted by Lee Ji Ae, with a performance of "Eternal Sunshine". His Super Junior members Leeteuk and Ryeowook as well as TVXQ's Changmin also showed to up to cheer him on.
Regarding the fact that he is the first Super Junior member (with the exception of Super Junior-M members) to come out with a solo release, Kyuhyun revealed, "I felt some pressure about being the first in Super Junior to release a solo album, but I've shrugged that off now. The members also cheered me on. I think if I do well, the agency will think, 'Oh? Super Junior can do solo too', and will support us [in that direction]."
When asked if there was any competition or jealousy from his fellow members, the Super Junior maknae joked, "I prepared the album for 2 years, and kept it a secret from the members. I didn't tell anyone because I expected some jealousy." However, he revealed that rather than teasing him out of jealousy about his solo release, his members were very supportive. "For example, I thought that Yesung hyung would get jealous. However, when I put out the album, Yesung hyung was the first to call me and congratulate me.
The other members also told me that they love me and were happy for me.
Kangin joked, 'Even if you do well, don't ignore hyung,' and said that he loves me. Heechul is having fun in Japan right now, but he even listened to my music while traveling. Eunhyuk and Donghae streamed it from London. This made me wonder why I had prepared the album in secret. I should have just told them all from the beginning and received advice from them. I think I had misunderstood my members."
Kyuhyun will also kick off his solo stages starting with KBS 2TV's 'Music Bank' on the 14th!
