HIGH SCHOOL - LOVE ON, EPISODE 14
Seul Bi, the princess locked in the tower waiting for her knight to rescue her.
RECAP
Woo Hyun and Sung Yeol fight constantly about Ji Hye; Sung Yeol is hurt that she's Woo Hyun's mom, and Woo Hyun doesn't want anything to do with her. Seul Bi confronts Sunbae about his behavior. He warns her that Woo Hyun will be hurt or killed if she stays a mortal. When she tells him she doesn't want to see him anymore, he admits to himself that made him sad.
The next morning, Woo Hyun deflects the rumors of him and Seul Bi with jokes. Ji Hye tries to get Seul Bi to live with her family, saying it would be easier for Woo Hyun that way. After getting reamed by his dad for disrespecting his stepmom, Sung Yeol tells Ji Hye privately that he intends to hurt Woo Hyun and stalks off.
Again with the man-cuddling. This time it's Ki Soo and Byung Wook. Must be something in the ddeokbokki...
Seul Bi decides she needs to stay with Sung Yeol's family to protect Woo Hyun. Byung Wook, one of Jae Seok's lackeys, ruins the bully's after-school fun by letting one of their victims go. He gets the stuffing beaten out of him in return and ends up spending the night at Woo Hyun's shop. That evening, Jae Seok tails the girl he likes, Da Yool, and finds her in the company of two older men. He attempts to lead her away, but is attacked and driven off by the two men.
The next day, after school, Woo Hyun and Sung Yeol again fight; this time Woo Hyun taunts back, saying maybe he should live with his real mom and Seul Bi in Sung Yeol's stead. Sung Yeol's dad, in costume as part of an "Eradicate School Violence" campaign, overhears them.
INFINITE songs make great rumor-therapy
Sung Yeol storms out of the house just as Ji Hye arrives home, and Jae Seok is there, creepily snapping pics, not knowing the ethics teacher and Sung Yeol's mom are one and the same. The bully goes to find Woo Hyun and asks him if this is true. He replies that it's not his business, to go ask Sung Yeol. He also makes fun of Jae Seok until he leaves angrily. Sung Yeol's father, stunned and hurt, confronts Ji Hye about Woo Hyun and her. Seul Bi goes outside, only to run into Woo Hyun. Sung Yeol arrives and angrily calls Woo Hyun out, and Woo Hyun fixes him with a defiant eye and says he won't back down again...

MY TAKE
Drama writers love dark secrets. Several of them that I've reviewed now embrace the trope of the dark secret, which, if revealed, changes everything. This secret, however is multilayered, and no one likes it when they find out. Woo Hyun doesn't want anything to do with Ji Hye, particularly because it's screwed up his friendship with Sung Yeol. Sung Yeol is upset because he was beginning to like his stepmom, and feels she's being stolen from him. Ji Hye is upset because she's lost both her sons. Sung Yeol's dad is upset because this secret was kept from him and it changes the way he sees Ji Hye.
"One-of-us:" Seul Bi and Woo Hyun watching a drama together
Seul Bi is very much the pawn in this love triangle. There are times when Woo Hyun seems a bit possessive and forceful. Sung Yeol uses her as a weapon to hurt Woo Hyun. Ji Hye doesn't like her, but still keeps her away from Woo Hyun. She seems happiest with Woo Hyun, but there was a part when Woo Hyun put his arm around her for show and she frowned the whole time. She still greets him with a big grin at the end of the episode, so you tell me: would you date him?
Sung Yeol and Seul Bi -- So close yet so far away
You ever wanna put yourself in a drama and call someone out for being an idiot? That's what I want to do, starting with Sung Yeol. I just have the urge to shake him and say "Wake up, you jerk!" Come to think of it, that's what I want to do to the writers, too. They took his character and made him incredibly one-dimensional. His love for Seul Bi is only eclipsed by his hatred for Woo Hyun and Ji Hye. It doesn't help that Ji Hye seems to favor Woo Hyun over Sung Yeol at times. I'm hoping this gets resolved in the best possible way because it was much more pleasant to watch when Sung Yeol and Woo Hyun were friends, and it's sad that they've been torn apart.
By far, I think my favorite scenes in this episode involved Jae Seok. He's losing his hold on everything, and I find that refreshing. One of his thugs has defected, and I can see the other one pulling away from him, too. And his girl has become, as near as I can tell, a prostitute. Which is about as far as you can fall. He has no other friends, and Woo Hyun insults him and gets away unscathed. What I'm hoping for is a cleaned up, reformed Jae Seok. I'm not holding my breath, though.
Sung Yeol's dad, trying to figure out what to say to Ji Hye
So, do you think Jae Seok is going to finally become a nice guy? Or do you even want to see that? Do you think Sung Yeol's going to let go of his issues? And what about Sunbae? Do you think he had something to do with the fact that Seul Bi apparently went back home (judging from the first episode)? If you think you have the answers, let 'em fly in the comments section. But even if you don't, let's keep watching together. This is too much fun to stop now!
