While many Korean celebrities took part in the 'ALS Ice Bucket Challenge' to show their support and to spread awareness, it turns out Kim Gu Ra was someone personally affected by the disease.
On August 27, a new episode of MBC's 'Radio Star' aired in which Kim Gu Ra said, "Recently, I got a call from Seo Jang Hoon. �He told me that athlete Park Seung Il [who is fighting the disease] fulfilled the 'Ice Bucket Challenge' and nominated Seo Jang Hoon, who, in turn, contacted me to tell me he planned on nominating me."

He continued, "To tell the truth, my father passed away because of the Lou Gehrig's Disease, so I have this [special] relationship with Park Seung Il. �I visited him at his home twice. �I'm going to do it first then nominate our three DJs."
Meanwhile, Kim Gu Ra had already done the 'Ice Bucket Challenge' with his son, Donghyun.
