On the 29th, the Seoul Supreme Prosecutor's Office revealed that Amy has been charged without detention for using zolpidem, a psychotropic drug. According to prosecutors, Amy received 85 pills of zolpidem from a Ms. Kwon, a woman she met at the probation office she was held, around November-December last year. She is being charged for taking 15 of the pills.
She was charged with illegally using propofol in November 2012 and was charged with 8 months jail sentence suspended for 2 years. She had been taking drug treatment lectures at the probation office, but had gotten her hands on drugs again during her probation period. Zolpidem is a sleep-inducing drug used to cure insomnia. However, constant use can lead to side effects such as hallucinations, and usage without a doctor's prescription is illegal.
Even though Amy has broken her probational period, she is not being held in detention. They explained that they took into account that she had taken zolpidem last year in June because of a prescription from a psychiatrist, and that tests on her hair showed she had stopped taking propofol.
