On the May 22 installment of MBC radio program 'Noon Song of Hope,' G.NA talked about the period in her life when she was not a known singer.
She said, "I was a trainee for seven years, and there were times I was sad because my home was not in Korea. Even if I were sick, I could not tell my mother nor could I go to the hospital because of the high costs."

She continued, "Originally, I was going to study Journalism and Broadcasting and become a news anchor. Since I was having such a hard time, my mother said to me once, 'Stop studying Journalism and Broadcasting. Since you gave a shot at becoming a singer, cast [Journalism and Broadcasting] aside.'"
