Riding on the viral hit of Psy's "Gangnam Style" and surging YG stock prices, Yang Hyun Suk was on top of the entertainment world for quite a while in terms of stock wealth (at one point having stock holdings worth over $200,000,000 USD).
Even back in September, it was revealed that Yang Hyun Suk was wealthiest in terms of stock in the entertainment business with SM Entertainment's Lee Soo Man trailing behind in second. However, the tables have turned according to a December 3 report on Chaebul.com.
This time, Lee Soo Man came out on top as the wealthiest stockholder in the entertainment industry. He beat Yang Hyun Suk for the number one spot with stock holdings currently worth 187 billion won (~ $176 million USD).
His value had decreased nearly 8.4 billion won (~ $7.9 million USD) from the beginning of the year (4.3%), but Yang Hyun Suk's value had suffered a greater fall of 48.7 billion won (~ $45.8 million USD), a startling 21.9% drop, which is how this switch occurred in the latest report.
Yang Hyun Suk had come out in first place before with the help of Psy's immense popularity and surging YG Entertainment stock price. However, almost 50 billion won (~ $47 million USD) has evaporated since the beginning of the year, leaving him in second place with stock holdings of 174 billion won (~ $164 million USD).
JYP Entertainment's J.Y. Park came in third because of his number of shares grew more than four times the original amount after the business merger. J.Y. Park's stock holdings grew, increasing his stock value from 7.4 billion won (~ $7 million USD) to 24.6 billion (~ $23 million USD).
Key East's Bae Yong Joon came in fourth with stock worth 23.9 billion won (~ $22.5 million USD) and celebrity Park Soon Ae came in fifth with 7.5 billion won (~ $7 million USD). Actor Jang Dong Gun had 3.6 billion won (~ $3.4 million USD) while both Kang Ho Dong and Shin Dong Yup had 2 billion won (~ $1.9 million USD).
