Despite it being the holiday time with most people choosing to spend time catching up with relatives rather than watching TV, the show managed to draw in an impressive amount of viewers with solid ratings that many regular variety programs would be satisfied with. According to AGB Nielsen Media Research, the September 19th broadcast of 'Idol Star Athletics Championship' achieved a 9.3% viewer rating followed by the September 20th broadcast which achieved a 8.1% viewer rating, showing the synergy effect of a mass gathering of idol stars.
Meanwhile, the other specials that aired during the same time slot, SBS' 'Star Faceoff' and KBS 2TV's 'Real Sports Fighting Spirit', also brought in idol stars but ended up not being able to top the athletic competition with 6.4% and 5.7% viewer rating, respectively.
