Ms. Jung, the alleged victim, told the police, "Mr. Shin caused a ruckus while drinking with another man and a woman. They kept falling over onto our table several times, but they never apologized. When the friend with me said to them, 'Isn't this a little too much', the woman with Mr. Shin started threatening us as she broke soju bottles. When I used the informal speech towards them, Mr. Shin knocked me down to the ground and kicked me in the face several times."
Mr. Shin was arrested on the spot after the police arrived on scene, however, the actor insists that the violence was not one sided and that Ms. Jung's side had initiated the violence.
In response, Ms. Jung commented, "It makes no sense that a party of two females would initiate violence against a party of 2 men and 1 female... With my facial injuries, I can't even go down to my hometown despite it being a holiday."
The police are currently looking into whether a CCTV footage can be found and plan to continue their investigation after the Chuseok holiday.
Mr. Shin debuted through a sitcom back in 2000 and carried out a supporting role in the popular historical drama 'Dong Yi', which aired in 2010.
