SBS responds to a cigarette spotted on the set of 'Laws of the Jungle'

The wilderness reality program 'Laws of the Jungle' recently found itself in some hot water after viewers noticed one of the cast members, Oh Jong Hyuk, holding a cigarette in a recent broadcast.

As viewers might know, the show revolves around a 'survival' concept, so seeing a cigarette in the middle of the wilderness was somewhat of a�non sequitur. Also, the scene in question showed the members trying to build a fire -- making the presence of a cigarette even more glaring.

After viewers spotted the anachronism, SBS came forward with an official statement. "There was an accident in the 8/2 broadcast where one of the cast members was shown holding a cigarette," the producers posted on the show's homepage. "This is a clear editing mistake and we apologize to the viewers. We will make sure that this kind of accident does not occur again."

"The scene showing the cast members building a fire was shot using no method other than a Firesteel, in keeping with the purpose of the program," they explained. "We apologize again for creating a misunderstanding due to an editing error."
