On the October 2nd episode of SBS' 'Strong Heart', pop-artist and tv personality Nancy Lang brought viewers to tears when she revealed that she had suffered from a panic disorder during her mother's 17-year long battle with cancer.
Nancy Lang revealed the story behind the development of the panic disorder, stating, "My mother suffered from cancer for 17 years and holds a record at the university hospitals. The average life expectancy for her type of cancer is five years. However, my mom underwent 12-hour surgeries four times and consistently received chemotherapy, and ended up living for 17 more years. Because she loves her daughter, she suffered until the very end to stay with me."
She further tugged at the hearts of viewers describing some of the side effects her mom exhibited living with so much pain, such as throwing and breaking stuff around the house or acting out at times.
She continued, "I asked myself why my family had to experience these bad things and why I had to go through such afflictions and thoughtlessly harbored resentment towards my mom, and I hated myself for resenting her and felt guilty. That is why I even once held my mom tight and told her that we should die together. My mother passed away in 2009 and three years have passed since. Now I've gotten a bit better."
