Japan's NHK will be broadcasting a special on young Korean trot singers this week through their NHK BS Premium Program, 'Hot Asia'. 'Hot Asia' is an international information program that covers various topics on the trends and cultures of the world. Because trot singers have been earning increasing attention overseas right alongside their K-Pop peers, NHK thought to touch on the phenomenon. Representatives of NHK stated, "After interviewing the new generation of trot singers like Jang Yoon Jung, Park Hyun Bin, Wink, and Yang Jiwon, we were all surprised. They broke the stereotype of traditional music being only sung by older singers and we quickly became a fan of the way they were able to charm with their fast, rhythmical dance songs." Another representative of the Korean music industry stated, "With Hallyu spreading all over the world, it isn't just idol music that's grabbing attention but Korean trot as well. Korean trot has proven to have marketability in Japan. Artists of a lot more genres are beginning to see the potential they have overseas." Jang Yoon Jung herself was chosen as the new MC for NTV's 'K-Style Hallyu Wave'. Park Hyun Bin, who advanced into the market in April, topped the 'enka chart' with "Shabang Shabang" on USEN. Wink has also been promoting as MCs for a K-Pop music video show in KBS Japan while Yang Jiwon signed on with Japan's greatest enka PR and label, JCM and Columbia Records.
