Korean music legend Seo Taiji has been in a hot seat lately, thanks to the story of his marriage and divorce with actress Lee Ji Ah getting leaked to the public. He is a very secretive person and the media couldn't reach him and get his side of the story - until now. Seo Taiji Company, his management company, released an official statement today. For his personal statement, you can read that here: Following is the official statement:
This is the official statement of Mr. Seo Taiji. First, we apologize to those that love and care for Mr. Seo. Here is our situation. The story of the legal action has already been released and Mr. Seo had trouble expressing his situation as so many rumors have been flying around for the past couple of days. We apologize for such a delay in our response and reaction. There was a story in the press today that they got hold of information from someone close to Mr. Seo, which is false. We would like to tell the facts and the facts only. As you may be aware, Mr. Seo and Miss Lee Ji Ah are currently in a lawsuit involving alimony and asset division. Mr. Seo met her for the first time back in 1993, through a friend when he was in the U.S. They continued contacting each other through letters and phone calls, and developed good feelings for one another. After Mr. Seo retired in 1996 and moved to the U.S., they entered in a relationship together. They eventually got married in the U.S. on October 12th 1997 and started living as a married couple, but realized as time went on that their personalities and plans for the future were different. In June of 2000 they started living in separate houses and then separated completely, moving on with their own lives. Although both parties tried to improve the relationship at the start of the separation, the situation didn't improve and the relationship ended. The marriage registration was not fully dealt with at the time due to both parties being busy. Mr. Seo had permanently moved to Korea and Miss Lee was preparing to become an actress. Miss Lee asked for a divorce in January 2006, and then on June 12th, 2006 she got a court ruling confirming the divorce. Their relationship officially ended completely on August 9th ,2006 and seemed to have ended without a trouble. However, Miss Lee filed a lawsuit on January 19th, 2011, which is currently happening as we speak. As the lawsuit is still under way and we are submitting facts we found only to the court, we would like to mention only what seems to be necessary. We would like to apologize and ask that you wait until the court ruling is out.The statement cleared most of questions and rumors, citing exact dates and explaining major events between the couple. However, few questions are still left unanswered, such as claims of them having children together. Stay tuned to allkpop as the case progresses. Source: Sports Chosun via Nate
