Another controversy has sparked, but this time netizens are scolding 'Superstar K2' contestant John Park for leaving his hand in his pocket while singing the national anthem.
With the show already progressed down to the final four contestants, John Park and the three remaining singers attended the Doosan-Lotte baseball semi-finals at the Sajik Stadium on October 3rd, where they sang the national anthem for the game's opening. While they were singing, however, viewers saw that John Park's left hand remained in his pockets during the song.
The producer of 'Superstar K2' stated, "John Park has been deeply reflecting on his actions after this incident."
An Mnet representative revealed,"The event stage was so big that John Park got confused out of nervousness, and it seems like he was not quite sure how to position himself on stage. However, right after the song began, he realized what he was doing and took his hand out right away."
According to the representative, at the time of the national anthem, John Park became nervous and put his hand in his pocket to hold onto his pitch pipe. Pitch pipes are known to be used by acapella singers as a way to tune their voices, just before they begin to sing. Due to the vast amount of spectators, John Park's nervous state caused him to clutch onto his pitch pipe, and thus could not take his hand out fast enough once the anthem began. Scenes from 'Superstar K2' of John Park using this pitch pipe before his performances had actually been a hot topic prior to the occurrence of this incident.
Mnet's representative added, "We will make sure this does not happen again."
Meanwhile, John Park's fourth performance on 'Superstar K2' is scheduled to broadcast this coming October 8th.
