Let's take a trip back in time a few months - back in April, Goong star Joo Ji Hoon was caught amidst a drug scandal in which he ultimately walked away with a guilty verdict and trail of heartbroken fans. Since then, Joo has been sentenced one year probation, 120 hours of community service and a fine. He has done his time completing various social services such as helping the elderly and disabled eight hours a day, and finished his hours earlier in August. With his services complete and his army enlistment just around the corner, it seems like Joo is finally able to move on. Since the case broke out six months ago, Joo has been silent with no consistent answer his malpractice nor any apologies seeking forgiveness from his fans. Yesterday, the actor opened up on his Japanese blog with a heartfelt message for the public to read.
How are you? Long time no contact Many intertwined emotions It's been two seasons since we communicated, and I have so many mixed emotions. As usual, I'm living, listening well, eating well and thinking a lot. I always want to do what's right, but some of my mistakes have left deep scars, the latest of which have shown everyone a weak side of me. My chest hurts and I'm deeply sorry. These thoughts have plagued me and are always at the back of my mind. I deeply apologize for my actions. However, I will work hard to turn things back to the way they were before. Now that the past is behind us, I am able to write these words and am looking forward to the future when I can show a new side of me. I've received so much love from everyone; I love you all the same as well, and miss everyone very much. Please ask everyone to keep this optimistic feeling and we shall meet in the near future. It's great to see Joo Ji Hoon acknowledging his mistakes and resolving to move past them. I'm personally a huge fan of Goong, and it's saddening to see an actor fall like this. Though his actions shouldn't be condoned by any means, I wish that Joo's reputation will be somewhat mended by the end of his army enlistment. Hopefully, the next time his name headlines allkpop news, the word 'scandal' will be nowhere near it.
