Not even to college... but to high school. However, Poppin' Hyun Joon (32) didn't drop out of high school because he thought being a b-boy was more important than studying trigonometry. He couldn't finish his education because his family was facing economic difficulties and he had no choice but to drop out in middle school. On March 2 (just a quick explanation for people here: in Korea, the school year starts in March and ends in February of the next year, with some vacation time off in summer and winter. So technically, after you finish a grade, you get a one week break then you move onto the next grade), What was I saying? Oh yeah, he was spotted at the first day of class in Hanrim Entertainment Arts High School. After the audition, Poppin' Hyun Joon personally appealed to the office of admissions to accept him so that he could get a high school diploma, and he was awarded a scholarship for his specialty in dance. The school said, "Though he didn't fit our standards for age or for talent, but we were impressed by his determination to finish his schooling." Poppin' Hyun Joon said, "It's so fun to start my school life again. I'm majoring in dance so I will teach my classmates for the next 3 years and work hard to be a good student so I can graduate." On the 20th, he will star in the nonverbal performance musical, "Lee Juno's Red Shoes" as the main character. He must be pretty busy trying to balance schoolwork and training schedules, but congratulations to Poppin' Hyun Joon for trying to finish your education and hopefully setting an example for aspiring entertainers!
