The highly-anticipated SBS drama Cain and Abel will be making its debut later tonight. Eagle-eyed netizens have managed to find out several similarities between Cain and Abel and the currently airing MBC East of Eden. Let's take a look at them. 1) Fated Conflict between Brothers In East of Eden, the fated conflict between brothers Lee Dong Chul (Song Seung Hun) and Lee Dong Wook (Yun Jung Hoon) has been the entire focus of the story from the start. In Cain and Abel, the same happens between brothers Lee Cho In (So Ji Sup) and Lee Seon Woo (Shin Hyun Joon) who ends up very much in conflict also. 2) Both drama titles derived from Bible Although storylines are both totally unrelated to religion, but their titles are both taken from the bible. What's coincidence is that, as recorded in the bible, the place that Cain resides in after he kills Abel and was exiled to was the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. 3) Comeback Dramas Both dramas were their first since they were released from their mandatory 2 years of military training. It's perhaps no big surprise that they have chosen almost similarly themed dramas since they are known to have a deep brotherly bond and also shows their chemistry. 4) Stellar Cast + Big Budget East of Eden has an impressive cast list comprising of Song Seung Hun, Yun Jung Hoon, Han Ji Hye, Lee Da Hae (dropped out in Episode 40), Lee Yeon Hee, etc and had boasted an unheard high budget of 25 billion won. It was also rare to actually see the entire drama comprising of 50 episodes and being placed in the Mon-Tue timeslot, normally reserved for mini-dramas (16/20/24 episodes). Cain and Abel also boasts of an impressive cast comprising of So Ji Sup, Shin Hyun Joon, Han Ji Min, Chae Jung Ahn, etc with a total of 7.5 billion won budgeted for the 20 episode drama. In this time where the entire world is suffering from economic turmoil, it's considered to be an extravagant production. 5) Highly-talked about Before Broadcast Before broadcast, East of Eden was a hotly-searched term on various Korean portals and the ratings shot past the 25% mark after its first 8 episodes. It's the same for Cain and Abel whose search term is ranked highly among the Korean portals and is even higher than some dramas which are airing now. Over 700 plus comments have been left on the official website saying that they are anticipating the broadcast very much. So Ji Sup and Shin Hyun Joon are returning to the small screen after a long absence. Han Ji Min and Chae Jung Ahn have won much popularity for their roles in their previous dramas, Yi San and Coffee Shop 1st Prince respectively. It will be interesting to see how Cain and Abel will fare against MBC Return of Iljimae and KBS Hateful But Once Again. Official Drama Posters
